Fourth of July at Howard County

On July 4th, Independence Day, our young volunteers in Howard County brought energy, creativity, and community spirit to this year’s Village of River Hill Parade by hosting a tennis recycle outreach table for families and children.

During the event, our volunteers welcomed visitors, shared snacks and popsicles, and introduced others to our recycling program in a friendly and engaging way. Through this activity, residents in our community learned that recycling isn’t limited to plastic bottles and paper — it also encompasses everyday items like tennis balls. Visitors happily gave the tennis ball a second life, taking away lightly used tennis balls for their own recreational use.

By sharing information and talking with families, our young volunteers became ambassadors for sustainability in their own community. This outreach event was a wonderful opportunity for children to learn, lead, and inspire others while enjoying the excitement of the parade.
