With Covid-19 in mind, we wanted a way to be able to remotely help the environment, and work as a community to further attain our goal. By using a Computer-Aided-Design software known as Fusion 360 and with the help of 3D printing, we have designed a portable "trash grabber" that we can distribute around the community to people who regularly take environmental walks. The design is simple, using a clamp-like system where the user can use as easily as pliers or scissors. The top has a semicircle that can be used to attach the trash grabber to another object, such as a backpack. The bottom two semicircles can be used to clip on plastic bags to easily store the trash picked up. To improve usability, grooves on the edges were created to increase the surface area, and thus, the ability to pick trash up. Using a 3D printer and a printer filament (plastic) known as TPU, or flexible filament, it is possible to print out flexible portable trash grabbers and distribute them throughout the community to help clean up our community litter amidst the coronavirus.
